Systems Safety Engineer

About the role

The Systems Safety Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and work at the heart of Malloy Aeronautics' unmanned air systems (UAS) programme in the UK. You will be responsible for embedding safety requirements into design, ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining product integrity throughout the lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate aircraft and subsystem designs for safety certification across the engineering lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain safety engineering artefacts such as Zonal Hazard Analyses, Preliminary Hazard Lists, and Hazard Analyses at system and sub‑system levels.
• Validate supplier safety analyses and produce safety assessment reports, including fault‑tree analysis.
• Generate and review risk assessments, ensuring appropriate mitigation actions are justified and implemented.
• Manage residual risk, communicate findings, and close out product‑integrity actions.
• Support project and service engineering teams with safety case development and certification evidence.

Required profile

• Eligibility to hold Security Clearance (minimum five years UK residence).
• Proven experience in system safety engineering for aerospace or UAS platforms.
• Strong understanding of UK aviation safety standards and airworthiness requirements.
