Systems Test Manager – 12‑month contract

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Test Manager for a 12‑month contract with a leading defence and aerospace client in Portsmouth. The role involves overseeing test and verification activities to ensure that complex systems meet contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage test and verification strategies and plans that minimise risk and validate technical solutions early and cost‑effectively.
• Use appropriate tools and techniques to verify and validate deliverables against BMS and specification requirements.
• Maintain the Verification Cross‑Reference Index, tracking test status against system requirements.
• Lead defect management for test and verification activities and ensure end‑to‑end testing complies with project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering management to incorporate industry developments and continuously improve engineering processes.
• Demonstrate compliance to the Authority and confirm that the system meets all contracted requirements.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education in a science or engineering discipline (highly desirable).
• Formal testing qualification such as ISTQB Advanced Manager level (highly desirable).
• Formal project‑management qualification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner (highly desirable).
• Experience in the satellite communications domain or related defence/aerospace sectors (highly desirable).

Required skills

• ISTQB Advanced Manager level certification.
• PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
• Knowledge of satellite communications systems and test environments.
