Tax Accounts Assistant (Permanent)

About the role

This permanent Tax Accounts Assistant position in Guildford supports the accountancy team by providing administrative and bookkeeping assistance. The role is ideal for detail‑oriented individuals who enjoy working with numbers and developing their accounting knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to Accountancy Specialists, handling client communications via phone and email.
• Learn and perform basic bookkeeping tasks, recording sales, purchases, income, receipts and payments for clients.
• Maintain up‑to‑date client and work databases, ensuring accurate information flow.
• Manage departmental records—both paper and electronic—in line with best practice and Data Protection standards.
• Follow existing departmental processes and contribute ideas for improvement.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a clear telephone manner.
• Motivated and driven attitude with the ability to meet targets.
• Good time‑management and organisational abilities.
• May be studying an accountancy qualification such as AAT.
