Tax Assistant Manager

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing tax team at a market‑leading accountancy firm in Maidenhead. You will manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients and play a key role in the smooth running of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, handling Self‑Assessment and Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.
• Support managers and senior staff in reviewing and preparing complex tax returns.
• Maintain strong client relationships via telephone, email, virtual meetings and face‑to‑face contact.
• Provide general tax compliance support and liaise with other service streams for multi‑discipline clients.

Required profile

• Qualified ATT and/or CTA with at least 5 years of relevant tax experience (or 7 years if qualified by experience).
• Ability to identify tax planning and wealth‑management opportunities and drive new‑business or cross‑selling.
• Client‑focused, proactive, commercially aware and committed to continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Strong attention to detail and a “can‑do” attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in a paperless, technology‑driven environment.
