Tax Assistant – Personal Tax Portfolio Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Assistant to manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including individuals, landlords and sole traders. The role offers autonomy to build strong client relationships while being supported by an experienced team within a well‑established independent practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of personal tax clients.
• Prepare and review UK Self Assessment tax returns.
• Prepare accounts for sole traders.
• Liaise directly with clients and HMRC.
• Review work produced by junior team members.
• Identify straightforward tax planning opportunities.
• Ensure all compliance deadlines are met.

Required profile

• Previous experience preparing UK Self Assessment returns in an accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing sole trader accounts.
• Ability to manage an independent client portfolio.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and client‑relationship abilities.
