Tax & Compliance Manager

About the role

The Tax & Compliance Manager will lead the group’s tax compliance and reporting activities, acting as the primary liaison with auditors, external advisers and regulatory bodies. Based in Warrington with a hybrid working model, the role reports to the Group Reporting Manager and is central to maintaining statutory and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead corporate tax compliance, preparing, reviewing and submitting tax returns.
• Manage the annual capital allowances process and ensure accurate year‑round reporting.
• Oversee indirect tax filings including VAT, Withholding Tax, Machine Gaming Duty, Climate Change Levy and PSA submissions.
• Prepare and review tax disclosures for statutory financial statements.
• Serve as the main contact for external auditors on tax matters.
• Maintain relationships with HMRC and external tax advisers.
• Monitor tax legislation changes and advise on business impact.
• Support HMRC reviews, regulatory inspections and tax initiatives across the investment portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and governance standards.
• Contribute to group reporting, consolidation and finance system automation projects.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified tax accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CPA or equivalent).
• Strong technical knowledge of corporate and indirect tax.
• Experience operating in a commercially focused environment.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all business levels.
