Tax Disputes Senior / Assistant Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Disputes Senior or Assistant Manager to join a top‑30 UK firm undergoing rapid, positive transformation. The role offers genuine autonomy, allowing you to build and manage your own portfolio of tax controversy matters while working within a collaborative and socially‑focused culture.

Key responsibilities

• Handle HMRC enquiries, COP8 and COP9 investigations, and voluntary disclosures.
• Negotiate penalties and provide mitigation advice.
• Conduct tax risk analysis and deliver advisory services.
• Prepare and manage client and HMRC correspondence, ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Tax Disputes and wider tax, legal, and compliance teams.

Required profile

• CTA‑qualified or post‑qualified candidates with private practice experience.
• Background in Private Client or Corporate Tax with a strong interest in tax disputes.
• Demonstrated client relationship skills and confidence to manage workload independently.
• Experience at Assistant Manager level preferred, though senior candidates with relevant expertise are also considered.
