Tax Investigations Manager – Manchester (Hybrid)

About the role

We are partnering with leading professional services and accountancy firms in Manchester to recruit an experienced Tax Investigations Manager. The role involves advising a diverse client base on high‑value tax investigations and disputes, working closely with senior partners and tax specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex HMRC enquiries, investigations and tax dispute matters.
• Develop investigation strategies, prepare disclosures and negotiate settlements.
• Draft technical submissions, reports and client correspondence.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships.
• Support Partners and Directors on high‑profile tax controversy engagements.
• Review technical work and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the tax investigations practice.

Required profile

• Proven experience in tax investigations, disputes or HMRC enquiries.
• ACA, ACCA, CTA qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong technical tax knowledge applied in a commercial environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client engagements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
