Teacher – Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated teacher to cover a maternity leave position at Oversands School, an independent specialist day school in Grange-over-Sands. You will work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils, many of whom have Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons for KS3 and KS4 students, with a focus on English where possible.
• Support pupils in developing academic skills, confidence and self‑esteem.
• Collaborate with in‑house psychologists, teaching assistants and therapy professionals to tailor interventions.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to individualized education plans.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment and manage challenging behaviours.

Required profile

• Resilient, dedicated and passionate about making a difference for young people.
• Experience or strong interest in teaching pupils with SEND, particularly autism and mental‑health needs.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
