Teacher of Drama (0.9 FTE) – Surrey

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Teacher of Drama to join an outstanding secondary school in Surrey from September 2026. The role is 0.9 FTE, working nine days out of a ten‑day cycle across a two‑week timetable, delivering drama lessons to students from Year 7 to A‑Level.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver drama lessons for Year 7‑8 (2 hrs/2 weeks), Year 9 (3 hrs/2 weeks), GCSE (5 hrs/2 weeks) and A‑Level (9 hrs/2 weeks) following the Edexcel syllabus.
• Utilise purpose‑built Creative Arts facilities, including rehearsal studios, lighting grids and the flexible studio theatre “The Drum”.
• Lead extracurricular activities such as Year 7 drama clubs, sixth‑form drama groups and school musical productions.
• Collaborate with four specialist drama teachers to develop a cohesive curriculum and share best practices.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching drama at secondary level, preferably covering GCSE and A‑Level.
• Ability to engage students in a range of theatre genres and address relevant social issues.
• Strong organisational skills to manage timetabled and extracurricular commitments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using stage lighting grids and sound equipment.
• Familiarity with rehearsal studio environments, including use of mirrors and blackout walls.
