About the role
We are seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join the Hearing Impairment Resource Base at a highly‑regarded primary school in Redbridge, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and runs through the Autumn term, providing full‑time specialist support for deaf pupils in Key Stage 2.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver specialist teaching for deaf pupils both within the resource base and in mainstream classrooms.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual communication and learning needs.
- Support pupils’ language, literacy and social development.
- Collaborate with class teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to promote inclusive practice.
- Monitor progress and contribute to personalised learning plans.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers and specialist services.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Recognised Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) qualification (essential).
- Minimum Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification.
- Experience supporting deaf children in a primary setting.
- Excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum and a total‑communication approach.

- British Sign Language (BSL) – Level 2.
