Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist School (Full‑time)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist autism school serving students aged 11‑19. The role is full‑time, term‑time only, and offers a calm, structured environment where you can help young people overcome learning barriers.
Key responsibilities
- Support students during lessons, ensuring they can access the curriculum and remain engaged.
- Encourage independence, emotional regulation, and positive social interaction.
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery in small groups and one‑to‑one settings.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent support.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably those with ASD or other special educational needs.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and its adaptation for additional needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility and creativity in meeting individual student requirements.
- Commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional development.
- Passion for helping young people grow and succeed.
