Teaching Assistant – Behavioural Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with challenging behaviour in a primary school in Huyton, Knowsley. The role is full‑time (8:30‑15:30, Monday‑Friday) for the academic year and involves working closely with the class teacher and another TA.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for the designated student throughout the school day.
• Assist in planning and delivering daily activities that promote learning and regulation.
• Utilise the school’s sensory rooms and outdoor spaces to help the pupil manage behaviour.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, other staff and parents to monitor progress.
• Implement de‑escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
• Record observations and contribute to the child’s assessment process.

Required profile

• Experience working with school‑age children, preferably with SEND or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient demeanor with ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with staff, parents and the pupil.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and follow guidance from the class teacher.
• Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
