Teaching Assistant – Early Years (Nursery/Reception)

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support early years learners in a well‑regarded primary school in Barking & Dagenham. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on both one‑to‑one support for children with autism and general classroom assistance in the nursery/reception setting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for students with autism and other additional needs.
- Assist learning through play‑based and structured activities.
- Support the development of early literacy, phonics and numeracy skills.
- Help maintain a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
- Assist with observations and tracking pupil progress.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant in an early years setting (nursery or reception).
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism.
- Patient, empathetic and strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with children and staff.
