Teaching Assistant – Full‑time (Term Time)

About the role

Polaris Community is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its new school in Huddersfield. This full‑time, term‑time only position offers the chance to support pupils aged 7‑18 in a supportive, well‑resourced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six pupils).
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning.
• Report on pupil progress, liaise with staff, and ensure individual needs are met.
• Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
• Set and mark work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to encourage interaction and learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Strong basic education, ideally to A‑level.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH.
• Confidence to take additional responsibilities (e.g., food hygiene, forest school, yoga).
• Experience in behaviour management techniques.
