Teaching Assistant

About the role

This full‑time Teaching Assistant position supports 16+ year‑old students at a specialist SEN college in Sutton. You will work directly with learners to develop communication, social interaction and physical skills across a range of activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support to improve speech, motor abilities and social engagement.
• Assist in diverse sessions such as swimming, music, art, sports and cooking.
• Work within small groups of 5‑8 students, focusing on essential life‑skill development.
• Collaborate with therapy teams, including speech therapists and animal‑assisted therapy specialists.

Required profile

• Commitment to remain in the role until at least December 2026.
• Relevant experience working with children or young adults in the UK within the past three years.
• Professional references covering recent work or training history.
• Patient, positive and encouraging attitude.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; focus is on interpersonal support and activity facilitation.
