About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a small group of Key Stage 1 pupils with autism and other learning difficulties at a welcoming primary school in Newham, East London. The role runs from 2 September 2026 to July 2027 on a fixed‑term basis.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to Key Stage 1 students with autism or additional learning needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual developmental requirements.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement personalised learning plans.
- Support the classroom environment and help maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
Required profile
- Patient, empathetic and passionate about child development.
- Strong communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
- Ability to identify children’s needs and adjust approaches accordingly.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant.
