Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor (Part‑Time, Hedge End)

About the role

Join a supportive secondary school environment as a Teaching Assistant / Learning Mentor, helping students with additional needs reach their full potential. This part‑time, permanent position offers full training and the chance to work closely with teachers and the SEND team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide classroom support across a range of subjects and small‑group settings.
• Use tailored strategies to support pupils with cognitive, communication, sensory, physical, social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Promote independence, confidence and resilience in students.
• Assist with behaviour management, safeguarding and student welfare.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SEND team and pastoral staff to monitor progress.

Required profile

• Graduates, career changers or individuals eager to start a career in education.
• Previous experience as a teaching or learning support assistant is beneficial but not essential.
• Experience in pastoral support, youth work, cover supervising or similar roles is welcomed.
