Teaching Assistant – Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to deliver focused literacy and numeracy intervention sessions for secondary‑school pupils who need extra support. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will help small groups build confidence and improve core reading, writing and mathematical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured literacy and numeracy intervention sessions for small groups.
• Support pupils in developing reading, writing and maths proficiency.
• Collaborate with class teachers to design targeted support programmes.
• Monitor pupil progress, record outcomes and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience delivering literacy and/or numeracy interventions.
• Strong English and Mathematics knowledge.
• Ability to engage and motivate pupils of varying abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo DBS and reference checks.
