Teaching Assistant – Primary Maths & Literacy (Part‑time)

About the role

Academics is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant to support primary classrooms across Chester. You will work directly with teachers and pupils to boost attainment in maths and literacy, delivering targeted interventions and everyday classroom assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead small‑group and one‑to‑one booster sessions covering key maths concepts, phonics, reading comprehension and writing.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery, task preparation and maintaining an organised learning environment.
• Adapt resources to meet the needs of lower‑attaining pupils while providing challenge for higher‑ability learners.
• Track pupil progress and provide feedback to inform future lesson planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.
• Confidence delivering structured interventions in maths and English/literacy.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Enhanced DBS registration on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
