Teaching Assistant – Primary School (ASD Support) – Lambeth

About the role

A welcoming primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its specialist provision from September. You will work with a small group of around six pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom are non‑verbal, providing high‑level individualised support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering engaging learning activities.
• Support pupils in communication, social development and independence.
• Implement tailored strategies to meet the needs of non‑verbal and autistic children.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and daily activities.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, including non‑verbal pupils.
• Patient, proactive and able to build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Willingness to travel to Lambeth and work on‑site full‑time.
• Ability to work closely with teachers and SENCOs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASD support strategies.
• Ability to use visual aids and communication tools.
• Basic record‑keeping and reporting skills.
