Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Barnet)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with primary schools across Barnet to place motivated Teaching Assistants in both full‑time and part‑time roles. You will work under the direction of the class teacher, supporting learning for children from Nursery to Year 6.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with delivering lessons in phonics, reading, mathematics and other curriculum areas.
• Work with individual pupils, small groups and the whole class to reinforce learning objectives.
• Support pupils with additional needs, following guidance from the SENCO.
• Prepare and organise teaching resources, displays and classroom materials.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive and well‑managed classroom environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with primary‑aged children in a school or educational setting.
• A warm, patient and encouraging approach to supporting children’s learning.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills to aid pupils across the curriculum.
• Ability to follow the teacher’s plans and adapt support as needed.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding awareness and a commitment to child protection.
