Teaching Assistant – Reception Class (Sutton Coldfield)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Reception class Teaching Assistant to support a two‑form entry primary school in Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield. The role starts in September 2026 and runs through July 2026, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering the early years curriculum for Reception pupils.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to enhance learning outcomes.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support pupils with personal, social and emotional development.
• Undertake record‑keeping, attendance and safeguarding duties as required.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Teaching Assistant or related qualification.
• Minimum 12 months experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.
• Good oral, written and numeracy skills.
• High expectations for all children and a caring, patient attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and go the extra mile.

Required skills

• Understanding of the primary curriculum and safeguarding procedures.
