Teaching Assistant – Secondary (Full‑Time)

About the role

Join Ormston School in Headingley, Leeds as a Secondary Teaching Assistant on a full‑time, term‑time basis starting April 2026. You will work within a supportive community that aims to deliver the best outcomes for young people.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six pupils).
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning and preparation.
• Report on pupil progress, raise concerns and liaise with staff to meet pupil needs.
• Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
• Set and mark work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to drive interaction and learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
• Strong basic education, ideally to A‑level.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
• Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
• Confidence to take additional responsibilities such as Food Hygiene, Forest School or lunchtimes.
