Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Full‑Time, Term‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 (or ASAP) and is full‑time, term‑time only. You will work closely with teachers to support pupils across a range of subjects and help create an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group intervention sessions.
• Support pupils with diverse learning needs, including SEND where required.
• Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
• Prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
• Monitor student progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote confidence, independence and resilience among students.
• Support the wider school community during break times, enrichment activities and events.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people in a school, college, youth work or tutoring setting (desirable but not essential).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, patient and proactive attitude.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
• Strong organisational skills and a team‑oriented approach.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting young people’s development.
• A degree is desirable but not essential.
