Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools in Sefton

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small‑group support to students during lessons.
• Assist teachers in preparing learning resources and setting up the classroom.
• Maintain student engagement, focus, and motivation throughout the school day.
• Help manage classroom behaviour to ensure a calm learning environment.
• Encourage students to develop confidence, self‑esteem, and independence.
• Provide feedback to teachers on individual student progress.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people (schools, youth clubs, coaching, mentoring, etc.).
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities with teenagers.
• Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting diverse learning styles.
• Eligibility to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK.
