Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEN School (Rochdale)

About the role

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary SEN School in Rochdale from September. You will support young people with additional needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support students aged 11‑16 with a range of special educational needs.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and accessible lessons.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support tailored to individual learning needs.
• Encourage students' independence, confidence, and social development.
• Promote positive behaviour and help create a supportive learning environment.
• Assist with personal, emotional, and academic development where required.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, education, care, or support setting.
• Patient, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Adaptable, resilient, and keen to learn.
• Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Positive attitude and genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
