Teaching Assistant – SEMH Specialist School

About the role
Join a brand‑new specialist SEMH school in Esher as a Teaching Assistant. You will help shape a therapeutic learning environment from day one, supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs to thrive academically and personally.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs to access the curriculum.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement.
- Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour‑support strategies and promote independence.
- Collaborate with teachers, pastoral and therapeutic teams to create a safe, inclusive classroom.
- Contribute to consistent routines, high expectations and small‑class personalised support.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people, in education, care or youth‑work settings (desirable but not essential).
- Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Patience, empathy and a calm, positive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Resilience and adaptability in challenging situations.

What we offer
