Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support (Brent)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as complex behavioural challenges. The role is based in Brent and offers an immediate start with the possibility of progressing to a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEND, autism, ADHD, sensory processing or trauma‑related needs.
• Assist with classroom activities, learning plans and behaviour management strategies.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with each child to promote wellbeing and progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external specialists to deliver tailored interventions.

Required profile

• Experience as a secondary Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or Youth Worker, including informal or voluntary work.
• Demonstrated passion for supporting children with SEND and SEMH.
• Ability to work effectively with challenging behaviour and maintain a calm, supportive environment.
