Teaching Assistant – SEN (ASD & SEMH) – North London

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a highly‑rated special educational needs (SEN) school in North London. The role involves supporting pupils with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, providing both academic and personal care on a full‑time, long‑term basis.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with students of all ages, including non‑verbal pupils, to deliver tailored academic support.
- Promote an inclusive classroom atmosphere and provide emotional support as required.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and use positive reinforcement to encourage focus and self‑control.
- Assist teachers with lesson planning, delivery and small‑group activities.
- Follow safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well‑being of all pupils.
Required profile
- Right to work in the UK and a clear, up‑to‑date DBS check.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant in a SEN setting.
- Patient, caring attitude with the ability to remain calm during challenging behaviour.
