Teaching Assistant – SEN (Complex Needs)

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex Special Educational Needs in a specialist SEN school in Eccles. You will work closely with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised learning and promote an inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide classroom‑based support to pupils with a range of complex SEN.
- Assist pupils with learning, communication, social development and independence.
- Use visual aids, sensory resources and communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton.
- Support personal care and mobility needs where required.
- Collaborate with teachers and the wider team to implement individual education plans.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN and complex needs, or transferable experience from care, support or youth work.
- Patient, caring, resilient and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to provide personal care and support mobility.
- Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or be willing to obtain one).
Required skills
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or visual timetables.
- Manual handling competence and/or Team Teach training (desirable).
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
What we offer
- Daily rate of £110‑£120, dependent on experience.
- Temporary to long‑term contract starting September 2026.
