Teaching Assistant (SEN) – Glindinning School

About the role

Glindinning School is looking for an enthusiastic and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with special educational needs. You will work in a nurturing, inclusive environment, helping pupils achieve their full potential academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism, learning disabilities, communication, sensory, and mental health needs.
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help pupils access the curriculum.
• Foster independence, confidence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing.
• Promote positive behaviour using consistent, restorative approaches.
• Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support personal care and medical needs where required, following training and procedures.
• Contribute to implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies.
• Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, therapists, and external agencies.
• Participate in school life, including visits, enrichment activities, and training.
