Teaching Assistant – SEN & SEMH Support (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding independent secondary school in North London. The role focuses on supporting students aged 11‑18 with special educational needs, particularly those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges and autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). You will work within a highly supportive team and benefit from excellent senior leadership and resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group academic support to SEMH and ASD students.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture and offer emotional support when needed.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and use positive reinforcement to encourage focus and self‑control.
• Assist with lesson planning and delivery.
• Follow safeguarding policies to ensure student safety and well‑being.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK and a clear, up‑to‑date DBS check.
• Previous experience as a teaching assistant, preferably with SEMH and ASD pupils.
• Patient, ‘can‑do’ attitude and ability to work under pressure.
