Teaching Assistant – Special Needs School (Immediate Start)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a reputable Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Royston. The role starts immediately and supports learners aged 5‑19 with complex learning, autism, challenging behaviour and other significant needs.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with classroom teachers to tailor activities to individual student requirements.
• Assist pupils during lessons, ensuring engagement, comprehension and participation.
• Provide one‑to‑one support for personal care, social‑emotional development and behaviour management.
• Implement agreed behaviour strategies and help maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
• Excellent communication skills and flexibility to adapt to diverse learner needs.
• Minimum one year experience in a UK school or care setting.
• Proficiency in English and the legal right to work in the UK (no sponsorship).

Required skills

• Basic safeguarding awareness.
• Ability to follow behaviour management plans.
