Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary School (Harrow)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a highly respected specialist primary school in Harrow. The school supports pupils aged 3‑11 with complex learning needs, including autism, developmental delays, physical disabilities and medical requirements. This role offers the chance to work in a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment and make a real difference to each child's educational journey.

Key responsibilities

• Work one‑to‑one and in small groups to support pupils with personalised learning activities.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting resources for diverse needs.
• Promote communication, confidence and social development among pupils.
• Provide personal care and support where required, ensuring safety and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with therapists, healthcare professionals and families to deliver coordinated support.

Required profile

• A positive, patient and caring approach with a genuine passion for education.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Understanding of safeguarding and welfare promotion.
• Previous experience with young people or additional needs is desirable but not essential.

• Basic knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
