Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary School

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports a highly respected specialist primary school in Harrow, caring for pupils aged 3‑11 with complex learning needs. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and families to deliver personalised learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, personalised activities.
• Promote communication, confidence and social development.
• Deliver personal care where required and maintain a safe, stimulating environment.
• Collaborate with therapists, healthcare professionals and other staff.
• Encourage positive behaviour and celebrate pupil achievements.

Required profile

• A positive, patient and caring approach.
• Genuine passion for education and supporting children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Understanding of safeguarding and welfare promotion.
• Previous experience with young people or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
