Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND College (Aston)

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist post-16 SEND college in Aston. Starting in September 2026, you will work Monday-Thursday (8:45 am-3:00 pm) supporting young adults with complex learning, communication and physical needs, helping them develop independence and life-skills for adulthood.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students throughout the college day.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, changing and hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Support mobility, positioning and moving-and-handling in line with individual care plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised learning programmes.
- Encourage communication, independence and social development, using tools such as AAC where appropriate.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Required profile
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care or equivalent.
- Extensive experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND needs.
- Proven experience providing personal care in an educational or care setting.
- Confidence working with physical disabilities, communication difficulties and complex learning needs.
- Caring, patient and flexible attitude.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Availability to start in September 2026 and commit to a long-term role.
