Teaching Assistant – St Helens

About the role

We are partnering with primary schools across St Helens to recruit enthusiastic Teaching Assistants for the new academic year starting September 2026. The role involves supporting pupils in EYFS, KS1 and KS2 settings, providing one‑to‑one assistance, and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and classroom activities across early years and primary phases.
• Provide targeted 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with additional needs, including SEND.
• Help maintain a positive, well‑behaved classroom atmosphere and promote pupil wellbeing.
• Support the preparation of learning resources and record‑keeping as required.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or youth setting.
• Positive, patient and adaptable attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing.
• Ability to provide professional references and undergo an Enhanced DBS check if required.
