Teaching Assistant – Supply Cover in Wigan Schools

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to provide supply cover across a variety of primary, secondary and SEND schools in Wigan. You will work directly with teachers and pupils, helping to maintain a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support small groups or individual pupils (1:1, 1:2 or 1:3) during lessons and activities.
• Assist the classroom teacher with preparation, supervision and classroom management.
• Provide behaviour management support and help maintain a safe, inclusive setting.
• Cover day‑to‑day bookings, with the possibility of longer‑term assignments.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
• Basic teaching‑related qualifications are desirable but not essential.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training).

Required skills

• SEN/SEMH awareness.
• Strong behaviour management abilities.
