Teaching Assistant – Support for Autistic KS4 Student

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work one‑to‑one with a Key Stage 4 pupil who has a primary diagnosis of autism. You will join a friendly SEND school team in Edgbaston, helping the student engage with lessons and participate in whole‑class activities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1‑2‑1 support to the autistic student during KS4 lessons.
- Assist with group activities and classroom tasks as required.
- Promote a positive learning environment and manage attitudes effectively.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to tailor support strategies.
Required profile
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience supporting children with autism, preferably in a special school setting.
- Valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Passion for helping learners overcome educational barriers.
Required skills
- Understanding of autism and other special educational needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
