Teaching Assistant – Support for Neurodivergent Students

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an independent school in North London. The role focuses on supporting neurodivergent pupils aged 7‑19, primarily those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). You will become part of a supportive team that values inclusive education and provides excellent resources.
Key responsibilities
- Support students with ASD, ADHD and other complex needs, including anxiety and communication challenges.
- Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group academic assistance.
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and offer emotional support when required.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and use positive reinforcement techniques.
- Assist with lesson planning and delivery.
- Follow safeguarding policies to ensure student safety and well‑being.
Required profile
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- Current, clear DBS check.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant, preferably with neurodivergent learners.
- Understanding of ASD and a patient, proactive attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and collaborate with senior staff.
