Teaching Assistant (Temporary) – South West England

About the role

The Supply Register Ltd, in partnership with Plymouth Cast Trust, is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support schools across Cornwall, Plymouth, Devon, Exeter and Dorset. This temporary role offers the chance to work directly with classroom teachers, helping students of all ages and abilities achieve their learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and setting up classroom resources.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils who need extra help.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for students with special educational needs.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and support professionals to ensure smooth classroom operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a teaching assistant or similar support role (preferred but not essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, teachers and parents.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student development.
• Flexibility to work across different year groups and settings.
• Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous.
