Teaching Assistant – Temporary Support Role

About the role

The role provides temporary classroom support for Plymouth Cast Trust schools across Cornwall and the South West. You will work closely with teachers to help deliver lessons and support students, including those with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson delivery and set‑up of resources.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils who need extra help.
• Implement individual education plans and accommodations for SEN students.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and promote an inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and other support professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role (preferred but not essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student learning.
• Flexibility to work across different year groups and settings.
• Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous.
