Team Lead – Finishing

About the role

The Finishing Team Lead will supervise a dedicated finishing and hammering crew, ensuring high‑quality patinated and finished components meet both company standards and bespoke customer specifications. This hands‑on position combines leadership with direct involvement in blasting, chemical, acid and manual surface‑finishing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, schedule and allocate tasks for the finishing and hammering teams to achieve production targets and on‑time delivery.
• Support production planning, optimise workflow and manage job creation, tracking and closure in the ERP system.
• Perform hands‑on finishing operations including blasting, chemical and acid baths, and Scotch‑Brite abrasive techniques.
• Develop and maintain consistent finishing methods, adjusting chemical and acid processes for repeatable results.
• Ensure all parts comply with quality standards and customer specifications.
• Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Enforce Health & Safety procedures, especially chemical handling, PPE use and safe work practices.
• Oversee correct handling, storage and disposal of chemicals in line with environmental regulations.
• Monitor equipment condition, conduct first‑line maintenance and report faults.
• Train, mentor and develop team members in finishing techniques and uphold 5S and continuous‑improvement practices.

Required profile

• Proven team‑leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong ability to organise workloads and manage time effectively on the shop floor.
• Experience using ERP systems for job tracking and production control.
• Demonstrated expertise in metal finishing, patination or surface‑treatment processes (e.g., brass, bronze).
• Hands‑on experience with blasting, chemical and acid treatments and manual finishing techniques.
