Team Leader – Children’s Homes

About the role

As a Team Leader in one of Witherslack Group’s Children’s Homes, you will play a pivotal part in the day‑to‑day life of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will support both residents and staff, ensuring the home runs smoothly while fostering a caring, stable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the home, maintaining high standards of care and safety.
• Provide direct support to young people, helping them achieve personal milestones and emotional wellbeing.
• Mentor and support staff members, stepping in for the Registered or Deputy Manager when required.
• Coordinate activities, sleep‑ins and attendance initiatives in line with the home’s policies.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and reviews.

Required profile

• Compassionate and emotionally resilient, able to build trusting relationships with young people.
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and support a team.
• Experience or genuine interest in youth residential care or similar settings.
• Flexibility to work occasional night‑time sleep‑ins (up to three per month).

Required skills

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem‑solving and decision‑making under pressure.
• Basic organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
