Team Manager Nights - Waitrose Thame

About the role

John Lewis Partnership is recruiting a Team Manager Nights for a Waitrose shop in Thame, Oxfordshire. You will influence and motivate your team and act as a positive role model for delivering outstanding, partner-led customer service. The role is temporary, with varied hours of full and/or part-time work across seven days between 20:00 and 06:00, and pays £32,000 to £45,600 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, sometimes the whole day.
• Use commercial skills to maximise sales and profit while minimising wastage.
• Maintain consistently high availability and merchandising standards and run an efficient, legal and secure store.
• Improve and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Manage the team, including leading and inspiring, organising holidays and managing absences.
• Create a supportive culture of care, belonging, pace and productivity.
• Engage and lead partners in delivering and embedding change consistently.

Required profile

• Applicants must be 18 years or over.
• Proven experience leading a team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
• Ability to build high-performing teams, recognise talent and hold regular, honest performance conversations.
• Passion for retail, understanding of competitors and the economic factors affecting the partnership.
• Ability to assess workload realistically, adapt plans to meet deadlines and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Required skills

• Desirable: experience with disciplinary and grievance processes.
• Desirable: hiring manager or recruitment experience.
• Desirable: Food Hygiene Level 3.
• Desirable: personal licence holder.
• Desirable: experience in regulatory compliance management.
