Team Manager – Practice Development & LADO

About the role

Join North Tyneside Council as a dual‑impact Team Manager, leading both practice development and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) functions. You will shape the future workforce of social workers while safeguarding children across the borough.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the redesign of the ASYE framework into the Early Career Development Programme.
• Oversee student placements, Step Up to Social Work cohorts, and apprenticeship programmes.
• Manage two Advanced Practitioners and promote continuous learning within Safeguarding and Children’s Services.
• Act as the primary LADO contact, handling allegations and suitability investigations under Working Together guidelines.
• Provide authoritative oversight when concerns arise about professionals working with vulnerable children.

Required profile

• Qualified, registered Social Work Manager with extensive experience in children’s services.
• Proven track record in practice development and workforce strategy.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities for complex safeguarding investigations.
• Commitment to visible, supportive team leadership in a hybrid work environment.
