Team Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Team Supervisor to join our Plumb Centre branch in Bedford. You will work closely with the Branch Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and deliver excellent service to trade customers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Branch Manager with day‑to‑day running of the branch and take charge in their absence.
• Supervise, train and support colleagues, providing performance feedback to meet targets.
• Serve customers on the trade counter, offering product advice and building relationships.
• Develop the customer base, improve retention and promote a wider product mix.
• Identify opportunities to increase profitability and recommend improvements.
• Maintain strong rapport with suppliers.
• Carry out general warehouse duties including goods receipt, picking, packing and manual handling of heavy stock such as toilets, sinks and radiators.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a retail, merchant or trade environment is preferred.
• Proven experience in face‑to‑face customer service or sales.
• Willingness to lead the branch when the manager is unavailable.
• Comfortable making outbound sales calls.
• Team‑player attitude with the ability to handle a diverse range of tasks.
• Eagerness to learn, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
