Technical Accounting Manager UK & I

About the role

Swegon UK & I is looking for a Technical Accounting Manager based at its Ashby De La Zouch site, working in a hybrid arrangement. As the Record-to-Report (R2R) Process Owner, the role focuses on financial compliance, statutory reporting and balance sheet integrity across the UK and Ireland business, moving away from fragmented local bookkeeping toward a centralised financial control environment. It suits someone with strong technical accounting expertise (FRS 102) who can combine regulatory compliance with efficient month-end operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual Statutory Accounts and Financial Statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, disclosures) for all UK&I entities in line with FRS 102.
• Own the end-to-end external and group audit process, acting as the main contact for auditors, coordinating PBC lists and resolving queries.
• Maintain internal control documentation, segregation of duties and audit trails across R2R workflows.
• Oversee current and deferred tax calculations, tax reconciliations and regulatory compliance reporting.
• Drive close planning and governance: close calendar, cut-off rules, checklists and control sign-offs.
• Own the Balance Sheet, with monthly reconciliations (Bank, AP/AR to GL, GR/IR, Fixed Assets) and materiality checks.
• Execute and review complex GL postings, accruals, deferrals, reclassifications and manual journal entries.
• Manage fixed asset registers, capitalisations, depreciation runs and lease accounting.
• Oversee inventory valuation, WIP, obsolescence provisions and standard costs with commercial finance.
• Submit Trial Balances and group reporting packages to Group Finance on time, run variance analysis and manage intercompany accounting.

Required profile

• ACA / ICAEW qualified.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Extensive background in an audit and accountancy practice.
• Proven track record preparing statutory accounts under FRS 102 for multiple UK entities.
• Hands-on experience managing the full external audit process, month-end close, balance sheet controls and group reporting.
• Full and valid UK driving licence.

Required skills
