About the role
We are seeking a Technical Architect to join our architecture team on a 12‑month+ contract (inside IR35). The role focuses on designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performance solutions for the Intelligent Navigation core platform, with a strong emphasis on healthcare interoperability standards.
Key responsibilities
- Design and drive specific architecture components, including solution design, data architecture, security, and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with senior architects and cross‑functional teams to solve complex architectural challenges.
- Create and maintain architectural diagrams, documentation, and design specifications.
- Ensure solutions comply with architectural principles, patterns, and interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
- Work closely with product, UCD, and QA teams to align designs with user needs and technical feasibility.
- Present designs at technical reviews, incorporate feedback, and communicate concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Support senior architects in stakeholder meetings, decision‑making forums, and architectural governance bodies.
- Document decisions using Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and help mitigate technical risks.
Required profile
- Self‑motivated professional able to drive conversations across teams and with external partners.
- Proven experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Hands‑on expertise with REST APIs, microservices, and integration patterns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working in multi‑disciplinary agile teams.
- Desirable: experience defining solution architectures, component design, and data modelling.
- Familiarity with NHS interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, NHS API standards) and security principles (authentication, authorization, data protection).
- Understanding of non‑functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and resilience.
